Repectable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Mr H D Kumaraswamy, paid a courtsey visit to the St Aloysius College Chapel. Later he met the Jesuits of the College as well as the staff and a few others who were around. The CM is in town in connection with the Ullal assembly bi-election on 2 June
CM at St Aloysius College
31 May. St Aloysius College Chapel. This was the first stop for the Chief Minister. In the celebrated Chapel, the Chief Minister spent a few minutes in prayer. The community gathered prayed for the intentions of the chief minister, for the well being of the State. Fr Eugene blessed the VIP in the Chapel.
Autonomy Core Committee Meets
28 May. Just as the admissions go on, the College is gearing up to implement autonomy. To that end, there was core committe meeting this evening. Details awaited !
Autonomy Progresss
25 May. Now that we have got autonomy, work of autonomy is our priority. Committees are meeting. That is besides the rush of admissions.
Classes for the Second and Final year stuents will commence on 11 June, whereas for the First years 18 June. And when you start your new year, you will enter an autonomous college!
St. Aloysius Gets Autonomy
23 May. It is official. It is final. The government of Karnataka has granted autonomy to St Aloysius College, Mangalore.
Though the College has been working towards it for the few years, and has been a pioneer inĀ this regard, as in most regards, there it had to face many hurdles. UGC Autonomy team was very happy with our College and its infrastructure. But other lower mortals found it too diffiucult to part with our College!
St Aloysius College will function autonomously from this academic year (2007 June). Six other colleges join in this new run of being autonomous.
New Vice Principal, Registrar of Evaluations
21 May. As things change in the College, we have new persons taking up new responsibilities: prof. Ronald Pinto (Chemistry) has beeen appointed Vice-Principal of SAC, for Science section. Prof. A M Narahari – the (very first) Registrar of Valuations in the Autonomous scheme.

Many Activities in the College
21 May. The college has come to life, once again. This time with varied activities: admissions to undergraduate courses (long lines of students and parents seeking admissions to their favourite subjects), valuations of University examinations held in April-May, interview to various lecturer’s posts, repair works in the College, … good many.
