SAC WILL SEE A NEW BUILDING

On the feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola a new building foundation stone  was laid in the campus of St. Aloysius College. This institution which is going to be built, will be used for the degree students.

It was the dream of the Jesuit fathers of the Aloysius community and it came true. The foundation stone was laid by Rev. Fr. Michael John, the administrator of P.U.College and then it was followed by several priests and the deans of the different faculties.

SAC CELEBTRATES FEAST OF ST. IGNATIOUS OF LOYOLA

The feast of St. Ignatius, the founder of the Society of Jesus was celebrated in a grand manner in the Loyola hall of P.U college. The celebration began with a brief introduction of St. Ignatius by Solon Fernandes III B.Sc.,then it was followed by the Holy Eucharist Celebration.

The whole Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr.Patrick Rodrigues, the director of Muller Charitable Hospital. He was assisted on the alter by Rev. Fr. Swebert D’Silva,S.J the Principal of the college and Rev. Fr. Francis Serrao S.J, the rector of the Aloysian institutions. There were several Jesuit priests as concelebrants.

The hall was packed with thousands of students. Soon after the mass all students and staff were served refreshments.

It was a great, significant and enjoyable day for all the Jesuits of Mangalore .

FELICITATION TO THE HONOURABLE DOCTORS

Hindi Sangha, Hopkins association, Sanskrit Sangha and Tukanasa association came together to felicitate lecturers who had obtained doctorate degree.These honourable persons are Dr. Damodhar Shettey, Dr. Saraswathi,  Dr.Vishanatha Badikana of the department of Kannada, Dr. Mukund Prabhu of the department of Hindi, Dr. S. Krishnamurthi of the department of Sanskrit and Dr. Lourduswamy of the department of English.

They spoke about their ups and downs they faced when they did their Ph.D. Deepa Bhat II B.Sc. was the M.C of the function.

SINGING COMPETITION BY KONKANI SANGHA

Konkani Sangha had organized a singing competition on 30^th july in the Teletoriam at 4.15 p.m.  There were several participants who came forward with their melodious voice.

The competition was open for all the students.The judges were Ms Supriya D’Souza of the department of political science, Ms. Ancita Pinto and Ms Shilpa Cutinha of the department of Social Work.

Vermitechnology association Inauguration

The students and faculty of Zoology had the inaugural function of the Vermitechnology association on 28^th July in the Xavier block hall. Rev Fr. Swebert D’silva SJ, principal, St. Aloysius college presided over the function and Rev. Fr. Dr.Leo D’ Souza SJ unveiled the prototype of Vermicomposting Bin.

A talk was also given by Mrs. Sumana Kashyap, lecturer, Mount Carmel College, Bangalore on “Plant growth induction in Vermicompost”. The president of the association Dr. Hareesh Joshy along with the secretary, Sudeep D. Ghate was also present.

Hindi Sangha Conducts a Workshop

Hindi sangha organized a workshop on the various skills of creative Hindi poetry writing in the Xavier block. The concerned resource person was Dr. Jayanth Prasad Nautiyal, manager, corporation bank.

He motivated the students by stressing the importance of Hindi language these days and enlightened all the members of the Hindi association by giving various tips on poetry writing. The president of the association Mrs. Qudsia Begum, Mukund Prabhu, HOD, hindi dept, along with the other faculty of the dept gave their full fledged supporting making the workshop a success.

Management students Turn maddening into the world of mad ads

The management faculty held a Mock ads competition as a part of the management association to all its students. The competition was a pretty though one with four teams from the first year, five from second and around four teams from the final year.

 

The students had to market a bathing soap and they came up with all kinds of fun filled ideas which took the audience to the extreme world of hilarity. The judges for the competition were the lecturers from the management dept. The results are likely to be announced tomorrow.

Al Madhyam Holds a Movie Screening

Forrest Gump, a well admired English movie by Robert Zemeckis was screened in the teletorium by Al madhyam, the media forum of the college. Most of its members along with the a few other students were also eagerly  present for the screening Only first half of the movie was screened due to lack of time. The other half is likely to be screened in the next week.

Sahodaya holds a talk

Sahodaya-an outreach program of the college organized a talk on the various ways of interacting to the senior citizens by Mrs. V.V Karthyani for all its members in the Xavier auditorium.

The program began with a welcome speech by Ms. Smyth Jesudasan, lecturer of commerce faculty that was followed by giving a hearty congratulations to the newly elected president of the college, Dhiraj, who  is an active member as well as the Ex Secretary of Sahodaya.  The newly elected Secretary of Sahodaya, Sharanya of III B.A was also present.
