AL MADHYAM CONDUCTS A CLASS ON POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

Al Madhyam, the Media forum of the college conducted a power point presentation class on 30th Aug 2007 at 4.15pm in the Journalism studio. This was regarding the basics of power point presentation and the session was conducted by Sandhya D’souza, the Secretary of Al Madhyam, Sajma Aravind and Danusha Gokulan.

Quiz association organizes the last quiz in the series of ‘ India Quiz’ in the Teletorium at 4.15pm on 30th

 Aug 2007.

Annual General Body Meeting

The 20th annual general body meeting of the Aloysian Employees housing co-operative society was held on Saturday, 25th August at 12:30pm in the college auditorium.

Rev.Fr.Swebert  Dsilva S.J being the president the of  this association and Prof.Ligoury Mendonca secretary of the association along with all the teachers of the Aloysius institution were present.

This committee is formed to give house loans for its members. It has contributed a lot and has been progressing very well.

AL MADHYAM’S WITH THEIR MADDENING MAD AD’S

Al- Madhyam, the media forum of the collge organsied a mad-ad competition on 24th August. Four groups participated in the event and exhibited their creativity. the students came up with ideas to promote products as varied as  “Jingalika Pens”, “Comlatte Comb”, “Zapak deodrent” and “Tetanus Chips.”

Group four emerged the winners for their excellent creativity in promoting their Zapak deodrent! the ad demonstrated how pretty girls ran away from a cute boy because of his odour and proclaimed that using Zapak deodrent solved the problem. Ms. Sowparnika Sudhir, lecturer in Journalism was the judge. Sandhya, the secretary of the association co-ordinate the event. The president of the association, Ms. Soumya and Ms. Nirmala the association presidents were present.

TUKANASM ORGANISES HARI KATHA

Kannada Sangha organised “Tukanasam” On 21st August.  It is a weekly program conducted together by Kannada, Tulu and Dramatics Association. Every Tuesday they arrange for interesting cultural programs. This time, the association organised Harikatha (a folk culture in which a story, mostly mythological is narrated, in a song form and then the meaning is explained). A large number of members from the association actively participated in the event.

Members of U.A.E Alumni Promise New Hopes

 

The U.A.E Alumni of St. Aloysius College will sponsor 5 or more undergraduate students with good academic background irrespective of Caste, Religion and Gender. A Corpus Fund ‘in the name of UAE Alumni of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore has been instituted for this purpose. Mr. Johnson Samuel, the chairman and Mr. Robert Rego, senior member handed over a cheque of sum of Rs. 4,55,781 to the Principal of the College Fr Swebert D’ Silva, SJ, on 17 August 2007.  The sponsorship will not include the charges of Hostel Facilities.

 In the past, the net savings of the alumni get together have been contributed towards mid day meals, IT Building Fund, Furniture to staff rooms and Cricket Kit for the College. They have also instituted scholarship in the High school and College for best sports men, brilliant students and all-rounder. 

Thus the sponsorship promises the deserving students a better life and a bright future.

Inauguration of Analytical Chemistry Course

The inauguration of the new M.Sc. ( Analytical Chemistry ) course in St Aloysius College was held on the 16th August 2007 . The new course got boosted with an intake of thirty students in the first batch. The department of chemistry will be coordinating the course. Dr.A.M.A. Khader, the professor and chairman, department of post-graduate studies and research in chemistry in Mangalore University was the chief guest.

The course is for four years duration. Dr Khader in his speech emphasized the importance of analytical chemistry in the modern era. He further said that the course on analytical chemistry is well equipped to meet the challenges of the modern day demands, and assured that it will be vital in every sphere of our lives.
