College Reopens on 19 June

27 May. St Aloysius College Mangalore will reopen for the academic year 2008-09 on June 19th for the 1st years, and on 23rd for the 2nd and 3rd Years. You are expected to be there on the first day – first class.

Post Graduate classes will begin slightly later.

Applications & Prospectus by Post

9 May. Those who want to have their copy of applications and prospectus posted, can send a DD for Rs. 350/- for PG or Masters courses, and Rs. 200/- for UG or undergraduate (degree) courses. These courses include: MS Communication, MA in Applied Economics, M.Com in Finance and Accounting, M.Sc. in Holistic Psychology and Counselling, M.S.W., M.A. in English & Communication, M.Sc. Biochemistry, M.Sc. Biotechnology, and M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry.

There are no quota (like Mangalore University or a particular college student) for admission; it’s open/ general admission. For MSW, MSc in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, and Analytical Chemistry, you need to appear for an entrance test to be conducted on 7, 9, 10 of June. Details are available on this same blog, a few days earlier post.

The DD should be drawn in favour of The Principal, St Aloysius College, payable at Mangalore. Post your DD and request to Principal, St Aloysius College, P.B. No. 720, Mangalore, 575003. Karnataka.

Kindly note: send only a DD, and not a cheque from outstation (outside Mangalore city).

If you send an email giving us the DD details, after posting, it would be nice.

Degree Admissions at St Aloysius College Commence

3 May. Even as Karnataka PUC results started pouring in, students with their parents started thronging St Aloysius College Mangalore for admissions to Under Graduate or Degree courses. Courses on offer are B.A, B.Sc., BSW, BBM, BCom, BCA. One could see long queues along the corridors and in the portico, in spite of 3 people doing the registration of applications.

Those who have registered their applications, please see the notice board from Monday (5th May) onwards  for the status of their application. You will be called for counselling on one of these days.  Since there are sufficient seats available for all courses, there is no need to panic.

Those who have not got their 12th standard results, please get your pre-board marks and submit your applications to the office.

Admissions to I year PUC at St Aloysius College at Light House Hill (the 128 year old college) will open soon after the SSLC results are announced. Admissions are done at the PUCollege – down / opposite Bishop’s house (near boys’ hostel), and not at the Degree College up!

Please note: there are no agents or brokers who do admissions for you any course at St Aloysius. Admissions are done directly by the Principal in the office. You will find some agents/ brokers asking you money as “donation” for ’such and such  person’ or for principal to get a seat for you! Please don’t believe! Anything about admissions to any of the St Aloysius units (college, PUC, High School, Primary, hostels etc) are done ONLY BY THE PRINCIPALS in their respective offices!

In the meantime, those who want to do their post graduate courses, could submit their applications to the office. Masters Courses on offer are -

Among others, M.Sc in Biochemistry, M.Sc. in Biotechnology, M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry and M.S.W will have entrance tests on 7, 9, 10 th of June.

Other courses will have direct admissions.

Results – SAPUC 96.22%; Evening PUC: 88.52%; Harihar 87%

3 May. St Aloysius Pre University College has scored an impressive 96.22% results for this year. Given the number of students appearing for the exams (over 1,500), this is an extremely impressive result.

Hearty congratulations to Prof. John D’Silva (Principal), Fr Michael John (Administrator) and all the staff members who have slogged through the year to  make it a good year for the college and the students.

In the meantime, our new baby St Aloysius Pre University College Harihar has done extremely well – it has achieved 87% results, only in its second year of results. Isn’t this a wonderful performance given the college is new, staff are new, students who come (in the infancy of a college) are not the best! Fr Victor Lobo, you are great! You worked miracles! Hearty congratulations to you and to your dedicated staff members.
