Grand Celebration of the Feast of St Ignatius Loyola

31 July.   “Ignatius of Loyola was a pragmatic idealist who was loyal to society, to Church and to Christ”, said the main celebrant of the Holy Mass Rev. Fr. Jerome D’ Souza  SJ on the occasion of the feast of St Ignatius of Loyola.

 

 

Ms. Anita the master of ceremony gave a detailed introduction to the life of Founder of the Society of Jesus, whose feast is celebrated the world over today. To Shine and Burn for the Greater Glory of God was the main theme of the mass.

 

Fr. Jerome D’Souza, along with nine other priests celebrated the mass, assisted by four altar boys. He said that Ignatius was a saint because of the ardent faith he had in God. Rev. Fr. Francis Serrao the Rector of the St Aloysius Institutions, wished a very happy feast to the entire congregation gathered for the mass. Rev. Fr. Denzil Lobo proposed the vote of thanks. He also stressed that the Catholic students should be more motivated.

 

After Holy Mass, the winners of the St Ignatius quiz competition were declared, and Fr Rector gave away the prizes to the winners.

Hopkins Association organises Book Review competition

 

 

The book review competition of Hopkins association organized by the President, Ms Sylvia Rego was held on 29th July at 4.30 pm. Five participants took part in this competition. The participants spoke on their favorite writers. One of the participants spoke about the literary contribution of Dr. Spencer Johnson. It was well appreciated by all

SAC’s New computer- Lab inaugurated

The extended computer Lab of St. Aloysius Collge was inaugurated on 29 July at 9 am. The Principal, Rev. Fr. Swebert D’silva was the chief guest for the occasion. The program began with a prayer service led by the chief guest, Rev. Fr. Swebert D’Silva. Intentions were offered for the welfare of the Department. The chief guest blessed all the computers and the students and staff members.

Konkani Sangh Inaugurated

 

 

The inauguration of the Konkani Sangh took place in the college auditorium on 28 July at 4: 30pm. The chief guest, Mr. Stephan Kadroza inaugurated the event by planting a tree. He said that “We should be more sensitive towards our own language and develop the taste of the language by reading the Konkani literature”. Ms. Florin the president of the association, Mr. Nevil, the secretary, Fr. Francis Alameda, the campus minister, Ms. Judy Pinto, Ms.Flora and a large number of students witnessed the fabulous inaugural ceremony.

Al-Madhyam organises computer skills

Al-Madhayam organized a computer skills workshop for the students on 28 July. Mr. Austin of 3rd year B.Sc was the resource person. He gave a detailed description on how to effectively work on Power Point Presentations and different applications involved in it such as the use of animation, custom animation, hyperlink and how to set quiz program. The seminar was well appreciated by the members of Al-Madhayam as well as others.

The Astro-Club

The Astro Club had organized the program on new findings of Mars. Mr.SS. Yashwant the student of 2 Bsc. gave the input on the topics. He said that there was life in Mars years before. He also mentioned the different angles in which the Mars can be studied. These studies are possible because of the advanced satellite system.

Hindi Sangha

Motivation (Sadhaka) makes the human beings unique in whole of creations”, said Dr. Krishnamurthy who was invited as the Chief guest of Hindi Sangh on 28 July, while speaking on the Human Resource Development. He further spoke how to cultivate the virtue of Leadership which is a sum of Courage, majesty and power. As students we should fight against the hurdles like Laziness, hard work but no result and stupidity.

Mr. Alok of 1st B.A. welcomed the chief guest and the gathering. Ms Qudsiya Begum the president and Mr. Sahayaraj the secretary of the association were present there to encourage the students present.

Inauguration of AICUF

          

All India Catholic Union Federation (AICUF) was inaugurated on 25 July at the College Teletorium. Rev. Fr Swebert D’Silva, Principal of St.Aloysius College, was the Chief Guest of the function. He highlighted the importance of the association and the values of Christian religion. The program was presided over by Rev. Fr Francis Almeida and Mr. Manuel Tauro, the Presidents of the Association.

Inauguration of Mathematics Forum

The inauguration of Mathematics Forum was held at 4:15 P.M. in Xavier Auditorium. The chief guest of the inauguration function was Prof.Robert D’souza, Department of Mathematics, NITK, Surathkal.He spoke about the Life of S. Ramanujan, the renowned Indian Mathematician. Dhavala, the secretary of the association presented a power point presentation . The President of the forum Prof. John Sherra, Department of Mathematics presided over the function.

Sahodaya gives training session

The first training session of the Sahodaya Association was held at Teletorium at 4:15pm. The function was presided over by Prof. Chales Furtado, lecturer in department of English, St. Aloysius Evening College. In his key address he shared his experience with the people who are differently abled. He explained the meaning of Sahodaya, which means ‘Blooming together’. He also said Sahodayans are not just  the members of the association but volunteers for the service. About sixty members were present for the function. Mr Alwyn D’sa, Department of English, co-ordinated the function.
