‘EXPLORING’ THE UNEXPLORED

15 Oct. ‘EXPLORING’ THE UNEXPLORED

Research is always connected with age. A well established common belief is that ‘when one has nothing to do, one enters into research.’ Another famous belief is that research is meant for the older people. St. Aloysius College proved the above hypothesis wrong, with the publication of its first multi disciplinary refereed research journal- ‘Explorations’. The journal containing ten research papers, includes six papers on Science, two on English, one on Humanities and another on tourism proving the fact that it is truly multi disciplinary.

The journal was released by G.V. Joshi, HOD of PG department, Economics, Mangalore University, who gave constructive criticisms on the journsl and ideas to improve it, urging to include more papers on social sciences. He commented on having an in build facility to incorporate papers on social sciences as the editorial board mainly consisited of lecturers from the Humanities section.

Dr. Kishori Nayak, HOD of Department of English, Mangalore University asked the management to fund more researches, not only for Science, but also to give apt importance to other disciplines as well. She asked to follow the research pattern followed by western universities and also to follow their funding systems in which they include proposals as well encouraging youngsters to contribute in this field.

Fr Leo D’Souza, an internationally acclaimed scientist and Director of Laboratory of Applied Biology, St. Aloysius College, asked to give importance and to publish articles that are relevant and timely. Being from the senior citizens category, Fr Leo’s enthusiasm to still write relevant articles and to carry on the spirit of research, inspired the packed audience, who were present to witness the inauguration of the journal.
