The Post graduate science courses of Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biotechnology were inaugurated on 6th July, 2009 at 11.00 am at Xavier Auditorium of the degree college.
The function began with a prayer session conducted by Ms. Sushma Patrao. The formal function started with a warm welcome extended by Dr. Richard Gonsalves. Rev. Fr. Denzil Lobo, vice principal of the College addressed the students on behalf of the Principal Rev. Fr. Swebert D’Silva. He stressed upon the youth to follow the three “Ds”: discipline, determination and dedication in life. Rev. Fr. Joseph Rodrigues, Rector of St. Aloysius Institutions, delivered the inaugural message. He stressed on the aims and objectives of the college – the mission of Jesuit education and the life of St. Aloysius were put forth. He also spoke of the need for an apolitical atmosphere at educational institutions.
Dr. Smitha Hegde proposed vote of thanks. Rev. Fr. Melwyn D’Cunha, co-ordinated the program. The function was attended by the Rev. Dr. Leo D’Souza, Director of Laboratory of Applied Biology, Dr. Shashi Kiran, HOD-Dr. Ivan Pinto, senior faculty of Chemistry department, Dr. Asha Abraham-coordinator and faculty of M.Sc.Biochemistry and staff members of M.Sc. Biotechnology department.
