Minister Limbavali at SAC

St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) penned a great day in its history on Sunday, 13 July at the Convention on Higher Education and Felicitation to the Minister for Higher Education, Aravinda Limbavali. The program was organized by the Federation of University and College Teachers’ Association in Karnataka (FUCTAK) and Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT).

Mr. A.S. Srikanth, the Principal Secretary to the Government of Karnataka (Higher Education), Dr. Nagambika Devi, Commissioner for Collegiate Education, Mr. Yogish Bhat, MLA (Industries and Investment Development Corporation) and Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC and Deputy Chairman of NRI Forum were present. Prof. K.M. Kaveriappa, Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University was the President for the function.

 

The dignitaries visited the College Chapel where Fr. Swebert D’ Silva, Principal, St. Aloysius College prayed to the Almighty to guide them in their noble ventures.

The Convention was a great moment in the history of the college with all the invited dignitaries present for the occasion. Prof. Narahari, State President of AMUCT felicitated the dignitaries. He expressed great hopes that Mangalore would soon become a coaching centre for the CET candidates.

Dr. Nagambika Devi spoke on e-governance and highlighted that “e-governance did not mean working with computers but with the speed of computers”. Citing an example, she added that teachers should know where to go for help when required for a speedy solution to their problems. She said that the government should work together with teachers to bring about changes for the betterment of education.

Mr. Srikanth said that the discussions of the convention should be documented and it must reach the concerned authorities so that its purpose may be fulfilled.

Sri. Aravinda Limbavali encouraged teachers to go beyond their working hours to guide and help the weaker students in their education. He also said that the ‘Aptha Mithra’ plan was launched  to improve the quality of education in government colleges.
