The shifting of a part of the post graduate courses, AIBA and AICS to a new campus at Ullal is in full swing. The latest sight that could not be missed by even the untrained eyes is the shifting process of Dewang Mehta Library.

Off to a new home...
Dewang Mehta Library, Information Technology, Research and Management Centre was inaugurated on 30 August 2003. The library is equiped with more than 7000 books catering to the different pg courses offered by the college. It is part of this treasured library that is being shifted to a new home.
Ms Gracy Monteiro, the librarian, a jovial person ever ready to help students with matters of books is all anxious with the work load.

“We normally work from 8 am to 8 pm. With the shifting to the new campus, most of the library staff too has been shifted. The work load has increased now” comments the librarian. Out of the 16 computers in the library only three are in working condition, adds the librarian. Acknowledging the present workload to be due to shortage of staff, she hopes with the induction of more people and furniture, the work condition will be at ease.

Shifting blues- a rare sight at Dewang Mehta library
Students have mixed opinion regarding the library and its working. The students opine that the facilities are good and the staff is approachable, but they want more books.
“At present we dont get access to enough books and they(library staff) find it tough to issue books as well. We understand its due to shifting, but it is difficult for us” echoes Sharath, Prashanth Chandra and James Thomas of II M.Com.

Library is undoubtedly the storehouse of knowledge and a refuge for the inqusitive students. Proper maintenance of library is therefore of prime importance in the all round personality development.
