The Dept. of Journalism of St. Aloysius College inaugurated its UGC sponsored National level workshop on Cinematography on Thursday. It is a three day workshop where the participants will get the opportunity to work with professional 3 CCD cameras and other equipments.

The Chief Guest on this occasion was Prof. Buroshiv Dasgupta, Director MIC Manipal. He inaugurated the event by sounding the clapper board in true Cinematic Style. In his speech he stressed on the changing trends of cinema and described the medium as “the recording of human movement”. He touched on topics like the revolution resulting from the convergence of Cinema and computers.

The Rector Rev Fr. Francis Serrao being an integral part of the Institution presided over the function. In his address he gave special reference to the evolving definition of education that goes beyond the curriculum. He also emphasized on the significance of media and the might it wields. P. N. Ramachandra, film maker, is the resource person of the workshop who will be training the students with different sessions of Cinematography.

 Rev Fr. Swebert D’Silva SJ, Principal, Rev Fr. Dr. Richard Rego SJ, Convener of the workshop, Sr. Dr. Celine Vas, Faculty member of the Department were also present at the dais.
