Life is Beautiful – Shines at Shooting Stars 2007

team-frmadamtropy.jpgstage-ms-suman-fr-denz-shetyfr-rr.jpg 03 March: The much awaited event of the year for the Dept of Journalism of St Aloysius College, “Shooting Stars -2007”, the Short Films Making Competition cum Short Film Festival concluded with a bang, with “Life Is Beautitiful” winning the coveted trophy. The euphoric team consists of Anisha Sheth, Valene Noronha, Shilpa P C, Chaya Ganapathy, and Benubala Nameirakpam of final year Journalism. The screening cum prize distribution was held in the Xavier Auditorium on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking on the occasion the chief guest, Mr.Balakrishna Shetty, the representative of Adlabs, Mangalore said, “The simple thing for a movie is to make people take a message home”. Suggesting Lage Raho Munnabhai as an example of a simple yet effective movie, he said that the subject of the movie should strike chords with the public. He also praised the efforts and talents of the students and their mentors for actively encouraging and supporting them.

 Delivering the Presidential address, Rev.Fr.Denzil Lobo, Vice Principal, said media is not just massage but a message, as the students have proved today.

Certificates of Merit were given away to the 42 participants who have put in their heart and soul in making these movies. 

Rev. Fr. Richard Rego SJ, and Ms. Suman Mendonca, the lecturers of the Journalism Dept were present on the dais. 

 
All together there were 10 movies in the fray. Four documentaries made during the National Level Documentary Workshop were also screened.
