5 Sept: A debating competition was held between humanities and debating society today at 12.15 in the teletorium. The topic for the debate was “media is the effective tool for the social welfare.” Four members made a team and all the participants gave their best to reap its results too. Ms. Shwetha of Economic department was the judge for this neck to neck competition. The Debating Society was declared the winner.
4 Sept. Debating association along with Al-madhyam association conducted a debate on the topic “English is the only criteria for success” members from 
Debating Association spoke for the topic and Al-madhyam association spoke against the topic. This programme was held in teletorium at 12.15 noon. Ms Shreya Mitra from English dept was the judge for the programme.
Hindi Association in collaboration with Quiz Association conducted ‘INQUSITIVE’ an inter class 
quiz competition finals in Teletorium at 4.15. Chief Guest were Judith Pinto and Qudsiya Begum of Hindi Association and Ramesh Kamath of BBM department. The quiz was conducted in 3 rounds those are buzzer round, Audio Round and Video Round. 6 groups participated in it.
CLC Association conducted Marian Hymn singing competition in 
Xavier
Block Teletorium at 4.15.Judges were Naveen Mascarenhas
and Renita Dsouza.
They were two categories solo and group. Guitar and Key board were provided.
The Forum Free Enterprises sponsored an A.D Shroff memorial elocution competition; jointly organized by Al-Madhyam and Debating association.
The event was held in Teletorium at 4.30. Students from various streams took part in it. Fr.Richard Rego and Mr.Ratan Mohunta were the judges of the event.
Anubhav association
The anubhav association conducted poster making competition on the topic ‘SAVE ENVIORNMENT SAVE LIFE’ in Aruppe block at 4:30pm . Six groups participated in the competition’s and Jyothi Miranda was the president.
Quiz association
Quiz association conducted a quiz on the topic OLYMPICS .Each group consist of six members and there were all together four rounds .The first three round included list of Olympic quiz and the forth round was a picture round .
Humanities Association conducted a collage competition at 4.15 on the theme “62 years of India’s Independence”. Seven groups participated in the competition. Each group had two members.

AICUF conducted a talk on the topic “Impact of Globalization on youth.”It was held in the Aruppe teletorium at 4.15 pm. Dr Norbert Lobo, lecturer of Economics Department was the resource person. During the talk, he highlighted the main points such as the factors that led to globalization and its importance.
Music association conducted a voice test in the Teletorium at 4.15. It was open for all. The judge for the programme was Mr Ratan, lecturer of English department. Many participants showed case their specila talents during the programme.
The Annual General Body Meeting of the St. Aloysius College Teachers Co-operative Credit Society Ltd. Mangalore was held on the college auditorium on Saturday 30th august 2008. It was the 28th General body meeting of the society. The programme started at 12.30pm.
There were nine point on the agenda for the meeting which were discussed among the members of the co-operative society. Some amendments were put forward by the secretary Dr.Richard Gonsalves. The members were free to put forth their opinions. The agenda includes the budget for the year 2008-’09,accounts of the 2006-’07,reading and approving the receipts and tentative profits, loss account and the balance sheet of 31st March 2008.
The President of co-operative credit society is Rev.Fr.Swebert D’Silva S.J.
The movie” Lars and the Real girl” by Craig Gillespie was screened by Sahodaya in collaboration with Hopkins Literary Association and Debating Association. 
The story of the film is written by Nancy Oliver. The movie is about a young man who is an introvert. It is a nicely scripted movie staring Ryan Gosling, Emily Mortimer, Paul and Kelli Garner. The movie was screened in the teletorium at 1pm.The viewers were given an introduction by Sohail Pinto.
29 Aug. The College and its various institutions, in keeping with the directive of the CBCI, closed down the college in silent and protest.
This is the only way an insignificant minority of our country can register their protest. Christians have been targetted time and again by fundamentalist forces. But neither politicians nor police have taken any action against the perpetrators of violence against them.
The security minorities experience in a country is the index and vibrancy of a democracy. In targetting the minorities, the perpetrators of violence threaten the very fabric of our country; they underestimate law in their hands, and dishonour the Constitution.
It is to draw attention to this painful fact that the Christians shut their institutions all over the country. By doing so, they have not jeopardised anybody’s life or property! That is the beauty of a Christian protest: silent and non-violent.
27 Aug. A poster making competition was conducted by the Psychology department on 27th august 2008. 
The programme started at 4.15p.m and got wind up by 5.30p.m.15 groups participated in competition. The topic given for the competition was “Childs Perception to the world”. 
It was held in B.S.W classes. All the students of psychology participated in this competition.
